Antidepressant dose safety checked in seniors with kidney disease

NCT ID NCT07387120

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study reviewed health records of nearly 7,000 older adults (age 66+) with low kidney function to see if starting a higher dose (50 mg/day) of the antidepressant sertraline was riskier than a lower dose (25 mg/day). The researchers looked at whether people had to go to the hospital, the emergency room, or died within 30 days of starting the medication. The goal was to gather safety information to help doctors prescribe more safely for this group.
