Summary
This observational study looks at whether certain genetic elements, called transposable elements, can prematurely age the immune system of people with sepsis in the ICU. Researchers will collect blood samples from 116 adult patients to see if these elements are linked to higher death rates or more secondary infections. No new treatments are given—the goal is simply to learn more about how sepsis affects the body.
