Stroke study: should doctors go after tiny clots left behind?

NCT ID NCT07533253

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at people who had a major stroke caused by a big clot in a large brain artery. After doctors remove that main clot, some patients still have smaller clots in deeper branches. The trial will randomly assign these patients to either have those small clots removed too, or to leave them alone. The goal is to see if removing the extra clots is safe and leads to better recovery. About 72 adults will take part.
