First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This 10-year study tests whether repeat doses of the BCG vaccine (used for tuberculosis) can lower blood sugar in adults with long-standing type 1 diabetes. Researchers believe BCG may help the body use sugar better, even without working pancreas cells. The study involves 150 adults and also looks at whether BCG protects against infections like COVID-19.
