Reiki may soothe anxiety during cancer radiation treatment

NCT ID NCT05979610

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether Reiki, a gentle hands-on energy therapy, can reduce anxiety and pain in people receiving brachytherapy (internal radiation) for gynecologic cancers like endometrial, cervical, vaginal, or vulvar cancer. About 70 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a Reiki session or standard care during the wait time before their first brachytherapy treatment. Researchers will compare changes in anxiety, pain, and mood between the two groups.
