Veterans' PTSD study targets hidden heart danger

NCT ID NCT01627301

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at why people with PTSD often have higher heart disease risk. Researchers will test two daily therapies—a breathing device and a nerve-stimulating device—to see if they calm the overactive nervous system. About 120 veterans with or without PTSD and slightly high blood pressure will take part. The goal is to understand how these treatments affect nerve activity and blood vessel health.
