NCT ID NCT06442423

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This early-stage study at Yale University is testing whether a single 25mg dose of psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) is safe and tolerable for 50 adults whose daily life is affected by mood, anxiety, trauma, or addiction symptoms. Participants do not need a formal diagnosis. The study will track side effects and symptom changes for up to 6 weeks, with optional follow-ups up to a year. This is a proof-of-concept trial, not a cure, and aims to see if psilocybin can be used more broadly in people with multiple mental health challenges.
