NCT ID NCT06818994
First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests whether psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) combined with talk therapy can safely reduce demoralization—a deep sense of hopelessness—in people with advanced cancer. Fifteen adults aged 18-70 with stage 3 or 4 cancer and high demoralization scores will receive 6 therapy sessions plus one 25 mg psilocybin dose. The main goals are to see if demoralization decreases and to track any side effects.
