Radioactive drug plus immunotherapy shows promise against rare skin cancer

NCT ID NCT05583708

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a new combination treatment for Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive skin cancer. It combines a radioactive drug (Lutathera) that kills cancer cells with an immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab) that helps the immune system fight the cancer. The study will enroll 18 adults to see if the combination can shrink tumors and control the disease. While both drugs are FDA-approved for other cancers, their use together for Merkel cell cancer is experimental.
