Heart shield: diabetes drugs may prevent Chemo-Induced cardiac damage in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07436663

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether two types of diabetes medications (SGLT2 inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors) can prevent heart damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin in women with breast cancer. About 150 Egyptian women will be randomly assigned to receive one of the drugs or standard care alongside their chemotherapy. The goal is to see if these drugs help keep the heart pumping strongly and reduce the risk of heart failure.
