Heart-Saving pills? diabetes drugs tested to shield breast cancer patients from chemo damage

NCT ID NCT07436663

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether two types of diabetes medications—SGLT2 inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors—can prevent heart damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin in women with breast cancer. About 150 Egyptian women will be randomly assigned to receive one of the drugs or standard care alongside their chemo. The goal is to see if these drugs help keep the heart pumping strongly and reduce the risk of heart failure.
