New catheter lock could reduce dangerous blockages in kids on IV nutrition

Summary
This study tests whether a 4% tetrasodium EDTA solution is better than the standard heparin lock at preventing central line blockages in children with intestinal failure who need long-term IV nutrition. About 124 children from multiple hospitals will take part. The goal is to see if the new solution reduces the need for extra procedures to unblock catheters and may also lower infection rates.
