Brain-Boosting bread? study tests prebiotic baked goods for memory and mood

NCT ID NCT06796712

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether eating prebiotic-fortified bakery products (like bread) for several weeks could improve memory, mood, and reduce inflammation in healthy adults aged 60-75 who had mild memory complaints. 55 participants were randomly assigned to eat either the prebiotic bakery items or a placebo. The goal was to see if this simple dietary change could support brain health and lower inflammation markers like C-reactive protein.
