First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested whether eating prebiotic-fortified bakery products (like bread and snacks) for several weeks could improve memory, mood, and reduce inflammation in healthy adults aged 60-75 who had mild memory complaints. Fifty-five participants were randomly assigned to eat either the prebiotic bakery items or regular versions. Researchers measured cognitive test scores, blood markers of inflammation, and other health indicators to see if the prebiotic foods made a difference.
