First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests whether using a bedside heart ultrasound (POCUS) to guide fluid and medication decisions improves outcomes for 140 adults with liver cirrhosis and severe sepsis or septic shock, compared to standard guideline-based care. The goal is to give just enough fluids to maintain blood pressure without causing fluid buildup in the lungs. Researchers will also check for hidden heart problems common in cirrhosis.
