Plant power: could a vegan diet protect transplanted kidneys?

NCT ID NCT06186843

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether switching to a plant-based diet can improve heart health and reduce inflammation in people who have received a kidney transplant. Twenty-five adults who are at least 3 months post-transplant will follow a plant-based diet for 16 weeks. Researchers will track changes in blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, and immune markers to see if the diet helps manage common post-transplant complications.
