Can moving more in the ICU help seniors recover better?

NCT ID NCT03115840

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how much older adults move while in the intensive care unit (ICU) for a critical illness like sepsis or respiratory failure. Researchers want to see if more activity during the hospital stay leads to fewer disabilities and better physical and mental function 3 to 12 months later. About 312 adults from two medical centers will be observed, but no new treatments or drugs are being tested.
