Study explores why kidneys handle phosphate differently as we age

NCT ID NCT07149337

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looks at how well the body handles phosphate from food as people age and whether men and women respond differently. Researchers will give a phosphate drink to 40 healthy volunteers (young adults aged 18-25 and older adults aged 63-70) and measure phosphate levels in the blood. The goal is to understand normal changes in kidney function with age, which may help prevent future kidney problems.
