First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This early-phase trial is testing a personalized vaccine made from a patient's own tumor, given alone or with drugs that boost the immune system (pembrolizumab or ipilimumab). The goal is to see if the combination is safe and can help the immune system attack triple-negative breast cancer. About 18 people with various stages of the disease will take part.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
personalized tumor membrane vesicle (TMV) vaccine, pembrolizumab, ipilimumab
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to help the immune system fight triple-negative breast cancer and reduce the chance of it coming back.
What could go wrong
This is a very early phase 1 trial with only 18 people, so it is mainly checking safety and dosing. It is too soon to know if the vaccine will actually work against the cancer.
