Which technique better protects mothers from tears during birth?
NCT ID NCT07537842
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at 60 first-time mothers to compare two methods of protecting the perineum (the area between the vagina and anus) during the pushing stage of labor. The goal was to see which technique—Finnish or Viennese—causes fewer tears. After delivery, a doctor who didn't know which method was used checked for any tears. The results will help identify a safer approach to reduce injury during childbirth.
