Rapid test may speed up right antibiotics for pneumonia in vulnerable ICU patients
NCT ID NCT05405491
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether a rapid PCR test can help doctors choose the right antibiotics within 24 hours for immunocompromised ICU patients with pneumonia. Standard lab tests take days, so patients often get broad antibiotics that may not work well. The trial compares the PCR-guided approach to usual care in 31 adults on ventilators.
