First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether paroxetine, a medication usually used for depression, can reduce hot flashes and night sweats in women who had surgical menopause. 90 women took either paroxetine or a placebo for 6 months. The goal was to find a safer alternative to hormone therapy, which can raise the risk of blood clots in some women.
