Freezing or heating nerves: new hope for wounded Soldiers' chest pain

NCT ID NCT07380789

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests two minimally invasive procedures—cryoablation (freezing) and radiofrequency ablation (heating)—to control severe chest pain after combat injuries. About 50 adults in Ukraine will be randomly assigned to one treatment, and researchers will measure pain levels, opioid use, and breathing function over 72 hours. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to manage acute pain and speed recovery.
