New pain coping program helps advanced cancer patients regain daily life

Summary
This study tested a special pain coping skills program for people with advanced solid tumor cancer who have pain that interferes with daily activities. 211 patients were randomly assigned to either the program or standard care. The program taught ways to manage pain and find meaning despite illness. Results showed it helped reduce how much pain got in the way of daily life over 8 to 12 weeks.
