New nerve block technique tested for better pain relief after major surgery
NCT ID NCT06452238
Summary
This study compared two different nerve block techniques for managing pain after open kidney removal surgery. Researchers tested whether a newer method called the external oblique intercostal plane block works better than the standard ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block. The study involved 40 adult patients to see which technique provided more effective pain relief with less need for opioid pain medication during the first 24 hours after surgery.
