New test could help doctors pick the best antibiotic for UTIs faster

NCT ID NCT07189429

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a new system (PA-100 AST) to help doctors choose the right antibiotic for women with urinary tract infections (UTIs). About 199 women provided urine samples, and the system checked which antibiotics would work best. The goal was to see if using this system changed how doctors prescribed antibiotics, potentially reducing the use of wrong or unnecessary antibiotics. The study did not test a new treatment but looked at improving how current treatments are chosen.
