Singapore tests new hospital model to cut stays for acutely ill seniors

NCT ID NCT07536035

First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a new way of organizing hospital care, called an Acute Medical Unit, can help older adults with sudden illnesses like infections or COPD get better faster and spend fewer days in the hospital. Researchers will compare 220 patients who receive this new model with those who get usual hospital care. The goal is to see if the new model reduces hospital stays, emergency visits, and costs while maintaining quality of life.
