How many biopsies are enough? new study aims to improve breast cancer diagnosis

NCT ID NCT06062992

First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at how many tissue samples are needed when doing a special type of breast biopsy called contrast-enhanced stereotactic biopsy (CESB). The goal was to find the smallest number of samples that still gives a reliable diagnosis. Researchers studied 77 women with breast lesions only visible on contrast-enhanced mammograms. The results will help doctors perform fewer biopsies while still getting accurate results.
