Flat or tilted? study seeks best head position for stroke patients

NCT ID NCT07507097

First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study compares two common head positions—lying flat (0°) versus elevating the head of the bed 30°—for people with severe acute ischemic stroke. The goal is to see which position is safer and leads to better recovery 90 days later. About 1,500 participants will be randomly assigned to one position for the first 24 hours after treatment. This is a simple nursing care study, not a drug or device trial.
