No-Opioid pain control put to the test in major surgery trial
NCT ID NCT04659317
First seen May 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026
Summary
This study compares a pain management plan that avoids opioids to one that includes them, for people having joint replacement or other orthopedic surgeries. About 80 adults will be randomly assigned to one of two groups and report their pain levels for 14 days after surgery. The goal is to see if the opioid-free approach can control pain just as well, with fewer risks.
