New online tool helps young breast cancer patients make fertility decisions

NCT ID NCT03591848

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study compared two ways of giving information about fertility preservation to young women (ages 18-40) newly diagnosed with breast cancer who had not yet started treatment. One group received standard face-to-face counseling, while the other used an online decision support tool before their appointment. The goal was to see if the online tool helped women feel more informed and confident in their choices. 186 women took part, and the study measured their decision-making comfort and anxiety levels.
