Childhood obesity may worsen MS brain damage, study finds

NCT ID NCT04593082

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how being overweight or obese might make multiple sclerosis (MS) worse in children. Researchers will compare brain scans and blood tests from 58 kids with MS—half of normal weight and half overweight or obese—to see if obesity leads to more inflammation and brain shrinkage. The goal is to understand how obesity affects MS early on, which could lead to better treatments.
