Blood test breakthrough could end painful liver biopsies for NASH patients
NCT ID NCT07502755
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether two blood markers, PLIN2 and RAB14, can accurately diagnose NASH (a serious liver disease) and advanced scarring, without needing a liver biopsy. Researchers will test these markers in 828 adults with NASH, type 2 diabetes, or obesity. If successful, this could lead to a simpler, cheaper way to detect and monitor the disease.
