Faster, clearer scan could improve detection of dangerous lung clots

NCT ID NCT04179539

Summary

This study tested a new type of PET scan to see how well it can diagnose pulmonary embolism (PE), which is a dangerous blood clot in the lungs. Researchers compared the new scan to the standard CT scan in 100 patients suspected of having a first-time clot. The goal was to see if the new method is more accurate and faster than current imaging techniques.
