New scan aims to spot hidden bladder cancer spread
NCT ID NCT04018053
Summary
This study is testing a new type of PET scan to see if it can more accurately show how far muscle-invasive bladder cancer has spread, compared to the standard CT or MRI scans used today. The scan uses a special imaging agent called 18F-fluciclovine, which may help doctors see cancer near the bladder that other scans sometimes miss. The goal is to improve surgical planning by giving doctors a clearer picture of the cancer's extent before a patient undergoes major surgery to remove the bladder.
