Could a simple shot before surgery cut opioid use in kids?
NCT ID NCT03796572
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving children a nerve block in the arm before elbow fracture surgery helps control pain afterward. About 90 children with a specific type of elbow fracture will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or standard care. Researchers will measure pain levels and ask parents about satisfaction and pain medication use over about one week. The goal is to see if the nerve block can reduce the need for opioid painkillers.
