First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether breathing in a medication called dexmedetomidine before surgery can prevent dangerous spikes in heart rate and blood pressure during weight-loss surgery in people with obesity. 90 adults with a BMI between 30 and 45 took part. The goal was to see if this simple mist could make the procedure safer and reduce the need for painkillers.
