First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether breathing in a mist of dexmedetomidine before surgery could prevent dangerous spikes in heart rate and blood pressure during intubation and the start of laparoscopic bariatric surgery. 90 obese adults (BMI 30-45) took part. The goal was to see if this simple pre-treatment makes the procedure safer and reduces the need for painkillers.
