Tiny patients test new breathing support method

NCT ID NCT04821453

Summary

This small pilot study tested two different ways to run a breathing machine for premature infants and young children with severe, long-term lung damage. Researchers compared a standard method to a newer method called NAVA, which tries to sync better with the baby's own breathing signals. They measured which method helped babies get more oxygen with less machine pressure and which seemed more comfortable.
