Nature sounds soothe surgery recovery: study finds less pain and stress

NCT ID NCT06848777

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether listening to nature sounds while getting up and moving after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery helps lower anxiety, pain, and stress. 70 adults who had their first gallbladder removal surgery took part. Researchers measured anxiety and pain using simple 0-to-10 scales and tracked stress with a smartwatch. The goal was to see if a calming sound environment makes recovery more comfortable.
