Scientists hunt for molecular proof that music helps Alzheimer's patients

NCT ID NCT07306065

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study aims to scientifically prove that music therapy affects the brain in people with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers will measure brain-related molecules (like serotonin and dopamine) in saliva before and after music sessions. The study includes 60 adults: 20 with Alzheimer's or dementia, 20 with mild memory problems, and 20 healthy older adults. The goal is to link changes in these molecules to improvements in mood, thinking, and behavior.
