Scientists probe muscle metabolism in cancer patients with unexplained weight loss

NCT ID NCT03027479

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at how muscle cells produce energy in women with ovarian or endometrial cancer who have lost weight. Researchers compared women with different body mass indexes (BMI) to see if metabolism differs. The goal was to understand the biology behind cancer-related weight loss, not to test a treatment. 70 women participated, and the study is now complete.
