First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested a mouthwash containing two active ingredients (chlorhexidine and chlorine dioxide) to see if it could reduce bad breath. Forty adults with halitosis rinsed with the mouthwash or a placebo twice daily for two weeks, then switched after a break. The main goal was to measure levels of odor-causing gases in the breath. The trial aimed to find a simple, at-home treatment for persistent bad breath.
