First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a mouthwash with two active ingredients (chlorhexidine and chlorine dioxide) to see if it reduces bad breath. Forty adults with halitosis rinsed with the mouthwash or a placebo twice a day for two weeks, then switched. The researchers measured breath gases, plaque, gum health, and bacteria to see if the mouthwash helped.
