First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study monitors heart rate variability in 150 adults with type 2 diabetes who also have heart failure, chronic kidney disease, or both. Participants will wear a 24-hour heart monitor before and after starting a standard SGLT2 inhibitor medication. The goal is to understand how this drug affects the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, which may explain its heart and kidney benefits.
