Summary

This study tested a drug called milrinone in 66 newborn babies with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), a condition where a hole in the diaphragm allows organs to move into the chest, making it hard for the lungs to develop and work. The goal was to see if milrinone could safely improve oxygen levels by helping the heart pump better and relaxing blood vessels in the lungs. While the drug is already used in some hospitals, this was the first randomized trial to check if it truly helps compared to a placebo.
