Tiny bugs, big impact: can gut bacteria help heal internal leaks?

NCT ID NCT07424469

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at the bacteria (microbiome) involved in leaks from the esophagus or stomach. Researchers want to understand how these germs change over time and how the body responds, so they can find better ways to help patients heal. About 50 adults with such leaks will provide samples and be followed to see what helps them recover without needing more surgery.
