Tiny bugs, big impact: can gut microbes heal leaks?

NCT ID NCT07424469

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at the bacteria and other microbes involved when people develop a leak in their esophagus or stomach after surgery or injury. Researchers want to understand how these microbes change over time and how the body responds, so they can find better ways to help the leak heal. About 50 adults with such leaks will provide samples and be followed during their treatment.
