New drug combo shows promise for tough mesothelioma
NCT ID NCT03126630
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding anetumab ravtansine (a targeted therapy that delivers chemotherapy directly to cancer cells) to pembrolizumab (an immunotherapy) works better than pembrolizumab alone for people with mesothelin-positive pleural mesothelioma. About 49 participants will receive either the combination or pembrolizumab alone. The goal is to see if the combination shrinks tumors more effectively and to check for side effects.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
anetumab ravtansine and pembrolizumab
What this could lead to
If it works, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with a specific type of mesothelioma that is hard to treat.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 49 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination may cause more side effects than pembrolizumab alone, and it may not improve response rates.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
