First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving heart failure patients healthy meals or fresh produce boxes after a hospital stay can improve their health and reduce emergency visits. 150 adults who were recently hospitalized for heart failure took part. Some received medically tailored meals, some got produce boxes, and others received money instead. The study also tested if requiring patients to attend follow-ups to keep getting food made a difference.
